European Mountains and Rivers

Yesterday we learned about scale in maths. We looked at the mountains and rivers in Europe and decided to focus on Mont Blanc, Aneto, the Rhine and the Danube.

After a lot of discussion on scale we agreed on a suitable scale and we went outside to draw the mountains and rivers to scale in the playground. We drew the mountains using the scale 1km : 1m and we drew the rivers with the scale 1000km : 1m.

Next to Aneto we drew Wallace’s monument using the same scale, it was tiny in comparison!
